GRBL RULES

There are special Grip-N-Rip Baseball rules that make the GRBL truly unique. If a rule is not addressed below, we revert to Major League Baseball rules. Here are our special GRBL game play rules:

Pitching

Inning Limitations - Any one pitcher on a team can throw a max of 5 innings. All other pitchers can throw a max of 3 innings. This guarantee's at least 3 pitchers faced in a 9 inning game.

Extra Inning Limitations - Two innings max in extra innings for all pitchers. This can create a situation where the last pitching reliever can throw their 3 innings max in regulation (9 innings) and can throw two innings into extras (10th and 11th).

No Pitcher Re-Entry - Once a pitcher is pulled from a game, he is not allowed to take the mound at any other point in the same game.

Substitutions/Re-Entry

Substitutions/Re-Entry can be made openly. If a starter is removed, he must re-enter in the same spot in the batting order.

Pinch Running/Courtesy Running

Courtesy runners can be used for the pitcher and catcher at any time they need. Courtesy runners can also be used for pitchers going to enter into the next inning. Example....Cole Roark hits and gets on base but was playing the field in the inning before. Cole is going to enter into the next inning as a pitcher and needs to get warmed up. A courtesy runner is allowed for Cole so he can get warmed up in the bullpen.

Pinch runners can also be used for position players at any time. That position player will need to be removed from the game at that point and allow his spot in the order to go around. Pinch runners can also be used for players who are injured. That injured player will also need to sit out a full rotation. A second use of a pinch runner for the same player will constitute that the player that is being pinch ran for, to not re-enter the game at any point.

Pinch runners/Courtesy Runners can only be reserves (non-starters) or a player who made the last recorded out.

Time Limit/Run Rule

There is a 2 hour and 45 minutes time limit to each game. A new inning will not start 10 minutes prior to this. Example....the game is in the 7th inning and it is not complete. The game has been going on for 2 hours and 35 minutes....an eighth inning will not be played and our extra inning rules will go into effect if the game is tied at the end of the seventh. The time limit is in effect for the regular season and for the playoffs. No time limit for the Championship Game. There currently is not a run rule in the GRBL.

Extra innings

For the regular season, if a game enters into extra innings, a runner will be placed at 2nd base (the last recorded out) with no outs. This will go on for 2 innings max. If a game is not decided by 2 full innings of this play, the 3rd extra inning will have the bases loaded with two outs.

For the playoffs, natural baseball for 3 innings max. The 4th inning of extra inning play will have a runner at second with no outs. The 5th inning of extra inning play will have the bases loaded and two outs.

For the championship, natural baseball for all extra inning play.
